Day 186 is uncomfortable

Our drive back into Chicago from MI today was full of traffic and weird sitings. This one takes the cake. The logo of this restaurant actually includes a floating Asian baby head. Awkward and hilarious. We laughed for a pretty long time, but then the more we thought about it the more it freaked us out. Michigan... why so strange?

Day 186 needs a hand

My parents are getting a new shed for the backyard, which means cleaning out the old one. Amongst the collection of useless outdoor items were a hula hoop (which I kept and intend to use), more shovels and rakes than any human could need, and these gloves. My dad has them set up on an upside-down stool, for the purpose of drying them after digging in the wet ground. He's a crazy guy. If I saw these as a child I probably would've been terrified of our shed. Floating hands are the stuff nightmares are made of!

Day 184 is on a boat

Meanwhile in Michigan... We had a crazy packed day of awesome. Kayaking, swimming, beaching, etc! It's been a great day with great friends and I kind of never want it to end.

Day 184 has a lot going on

I have my 301 class improv show in a few hours and I needed to get a few things straightened out for work beforehand. Also, some of my wonderful friends are coming to see my show, so I wanted to make sure I know what's going on in Philly the next two days for their stay. I'm nervous, anxious, excited and happy, which translates into a frantic Katie.

Day 183, don't become a robot

I saw this wonderful sticker in the ladies room while I was out at dinner tonight. "Don't become a robot." Brilliant. What a great motto. Please excuse the bright yet blurriness of this photo, as I felt like a weirdo taking out my camera in the stall. I couldn't pass up this photo op.

Day 183 goes exploring

Our little Chicago gang made it to Michigan late last night after a very fun (but long) roadtrip. Today we did some vintage shop exploring and beach enjoying. The weather is so very perfect today. I toon a bunch of pics but this one was my fave. I can't wait to throw in some vintage pieces knot our new apt decor!

Day 182 settles in

Chicago!! I spent today moving and unpacking boxes (quick shout out to VA for being so awesome today- a real friend helps you carry 400lbs of stuff up 3 flights of stairs). After a few hours I realized that I needed me some lunch. Potbellys is about 200 feet from my new place and that's gonna be a problem. A good problem though. And now I'm on my way to MI for a lakeside holiday weekend. Woohoo!

Day 182, go fly a kite

I got out of work super early today for the holiday weekend - 1pm to be exact. So, my mom and I decided to take a quick trip to the shore! We went to Asbury Park, as she was jealous of my recent visit with Emily. I feel very lucky to live close enough for this to be an option. As you can see, the weather was perfect. Considering it's a holiday weekend, the beach was really empty. There were a few kids flying kites - adorable. I love seeing kids playing with old school toys as opposed to video games and iPods. I kind of wanted to join them. Except for the creep factor.

Day 181 says hello!

Oh hey, Chicago! This post is late because we don't have the internets yet in our new place. But we're working on it. I got into the city late last night and after some birthday dessert with my new roomie, it was off to bed. Traveling is exhausting! Another post for today coming later tonight!

Day 181 just wants to go to sleep

I had a weird last couple days and want desperately to go to sleep. Then I realized I hadn't taken a photo today. With my last ounce of energy I took a picture of this crumpled up pile of pillows. If this turns out to be my worst/laziest photo during the 365, then so be it.

Day 180 says farewell

I had a great day last day in Seattle. My sister took off work and we spent our day hitting some of our favorite Seattle spots and enjoying the sunshine. Then I got to say goodbye to some very dear Seattle friends over bowling and drinks and crazy delicious fries. Such a good day. It's all very bittersweet. Starting tomorrow I'll be kicking off a new adventure in a new town... wish me luck! Here I come, Chicago...

Day 180 deserves a midnight snack

Without getting into details, I'll say that I had a long, weird and amusing day. In order to catch up on some work before going to bed, I thought I deserved some motivation in the form of a late night snack. M&Ms and Diet Dr. Pepper? Yes please!

A little of this, a little of that on Day 179

I'm a bit behind on my traditional rereading of the HP series before a movie comes out. I'm only halfway into book 3 with just about 2 weeks left! Eeek! But I made sure to schedule in some reading time today, even with all the little errands and things I have to do before I check out of Seattle. Changing addresses, canceling gym memberships, finish packing.... ya know, the little things. (Yeah you read that right, I'm not done packing yet. I'm working on it!).

ps. On an unrelated note. Please get yourselves to a theater and see Super 8 if you haven't already. I have a deep, dark fear of scary movies but this one was worth it.

Day 179 is sweet

These strawberry candies are one of my favorite types of hard candy. They are the ones with a little bit of a chewy center. Well, my mom bought me a whole bag of them - what a doll! The wrappers look semi-natural so they almost trick me into thinking they are healthy. But I know better. But I will still enjoy them.

Oh hey there delicious scoop of blueberry ice cream, how YOU doin?? I've honestly never had blueberry ice cream before tonight. I've been on a strawberry ice cream kick since last summer after my nana took me to this farm in MA where they had cows in the fields in front of you, strawberry fields behind you and an ice cream counter right in the middle. So ya know... it was pretty fresh ice cream. And the "kids size" was, no joke, 3 whole scoops of ice cream in a waffle cone. Ridic. But tonight - I got wild and changed it up a bit. And my big gamble was worth it, for the blueberry exceeded my expectations. As you can see I'm taking this "it's officially summer" thing very seriously. Summer is when my I let my ice cream freak flag fly. I hope you all are doing the same.

Day 178, work it.

Last week I joined a gym, Retro Fitness. It's new, so it's really clean and surprisingly not too crowded. Plus they have a movie theater with exercise machines. Yesterday Kindergarten Cop was the advertised movie, but The Mask was playing instead. I nearly asked for a refund. Despite being out of shape, I'm feeling really good about easing back into regular exercise. Today was day four of working out. My friend and I were doing ab exercises and for a brief moment I felt like I was going to vomit - Biggest Loser style. But I was fine. I'm not that out of shape. Oh yeah, here I am stretching while lacing up my sneaks.

Day 177 stopped to smell the flowers

Move 1 of 2 = finished. FINISHED! Moving the sis into the new place was like the long, long marathon that never ended. The place still has a few boxes here and there that don't have a home just yet, but I just could really care less about those right now. Right now I'm all about resting up before I have to do this all over again with my stuff in Chicago in 4 days. 4 days!! That's the countdown for days left in Seattle. Yikes, where has the time gone?!

Day 177 is twisted

I bought this shirt today at Old Navy. I love clothes with interesting patterns, textures and prints. Not sure what these twisty looking loops are, but I like them. Plus, yellow can be such a fun color. I just might have to model it tomorrow!
