Day 180 says farewell
I had a great day last day in Seattle. My sister took off work and we spent our day hitting some of our favorite Seattle spots and enjoying the sunshine. Then I got to say goodbye to some very dear Seattle friends over bowling and drinks and crazy delicious fries. Such a good day. It's all very bittersweet. Starting tomorrow I'll be kicking off a new adventure in a new town... wish me luck! Here I come, Chicago...

Day 174 stands out a bit
Driving around in my sisters new hood today, we passed by this gorgeous piece of artwork. When you see it in real life, it's pretty intense. It doesn't match the neighborhood at all. Right after this is an entire street of Safeways and Walgreens and Farmers Market type spots. So this guy right here... he stands out a bit. Which is probably why I like it so much. Quirky Seattle at it's finest.

Day 145 doesn't want this rain
Due to some transit issues in Seattle today, I spent 30 minutes sitting in a Rite Aid parking lot waiting to pick up the sis after work. Not that I minded. I had a book and angry birds to keep me company. But I did find the sound of the pouring rain to be distracting and kind of creepy. Good thing I'll be taking a break from this rain as of tomorrow. I'm off to Chicago for a few days where it's going to be sunny and between 75º and 80º this weekend. Yes please.

Day 139 found the sun!
Eeeeek! It was sun, sun, sunny today! And tomorrow there is not only more sun but it's gonna be warm. WARM! It hasn't been over 65º here since October. We're so due for a 70º day and I can't wait. I'm waiting until tomorrow to debut my skirt. Woohoo!! (ps. yes I'm totally drunk on Vitamin D. Feels awesome!)

Day 132 is back!
This is what I was seeing over and over (and over) again yesterday whenever I tried to post. Fail! Sorry for the late post, reader friends!
And now back to our regularly scheduled programming. :)
This was Seattle.... yesterday? This late post is brought to you courtesy of Blogger.com being down for just about 24 hours yesterday. How fun! It was sunny skies and fun little fluffy clouds. Still climbing out of the mid 50ºs here, but hey! At least there was sunshine. I'll take it!

Day 116 scoots about
Today I spotted this fine business establishment in downtown Seattle. For some reason, when I read this in my head I pronounce the 'about' Canadian style... I'll pause for a second while you give it a try. All set? It just feels right, right? Also, umm... I don't see any scooters here (beyond the fence.......). Either scooters in Seattle were in popular demand today or there seems to be a tiny little inventory issue going on. I can't be sure. Either way, points for the catchy little name.

the view from Day 94
Just look at this day, will ya! Oy! All I'm saying is that weather.com is boasting mid 50ºs and sunny starting Friday and I can't freaking wait. Is 54º too cold to try and tan? No right? Right. The weird thing about this weather is that it's kinda dark during the day, but you can tell that above all that cloud cover there's sunlight trying really hard to work through the clouds. Like someone threw a heavy sheet over a flashlight. There's still light, but not really.... does this make any sense? Monday ramblings ftw!

Day 90 says farewell to March
I'm pretty psyched to be saying farewell to March tonight. Warmer, sunnier days are so close I can practically taste them! Also, there are lots of fun travel plans in the next upcoming months, officially kicking off in April and I'm so ready to get this show on the road already! Today was more gray in Seattle, but for about 10 minutes tonight I saw a tiny, baby sliver of sunlight out yonder in the sky and I stared at it for about 5 minutes, mesmerized by it's beauty. This is kind of how I reacted when I saw snow for the first time in college. Weird how that happens. Anyway, adieu March - I'm not sad to see you go.

a gloomy, gray Day 89
This is essentially what Seattle was about today. Rain, wind, cold, gray. It's all making me feel quite melancholy. Also these gray days make time move quite slowly. Ugh! How many more days until my trip to NYC? That's all I've been looking forward to for weeks. Can't wait!

Day 82 is old school cool
I spotted this car on the corner of the building where I work as I was running into the office this morning (late. per usual.) But not late enough to not stop and take this picture. Hehe. I like this car. I like it a lot. Unpretentious and all around awesome. It looks like it's seen some great days and it just kinda oozes coolness to me. Oh an look - it was a bright and sunny day in Seattle today. Hell to the yeah! At one point it definitely hit about 68º here today. Oh hello Spring, welcome to the party.

Day 81 is a radio star
I never really listened to the radio in new york. We streamed pandora at work, and I rocked my ipod the rest of the time I needed music. Radio? Not so much. So it only took like 7 months, but I finally found a station that doesn't make me want to rip my hair out here in Seattle. It's super campy and way mainstream, but they're fun and I can dance around to everything they play when I'm getting ready for work in the mornings. And isn't that all you really need in a radio station? (Hint: the answer is yes!)
ps. How dusty is this car?! Yikes!

Day 50 loves girls day (and coffee)
I'm in the middle of a fabulous girls weekend o' debauchery with two of my most favorite people on earth. We're taking over Seattle, kids!
This morning we had a fantastic brunch to start our day and of course I busted out my camera mid meal to capture the moment. While the coffee did photograph well, it left much to be desired taste wise. wah wah! But it's okay, Seattle is certaintly not a town lacking in delicious coffee so our next stop was an amazing espresso bar where we each picked up a proper cup of caffeine. Here's to more fun tonight!

rainy, rainy Day 45
Remember this? Yeah, forget about that. That was, as I was told, a total lie. A psych out. Seattle was all, "jk! No more sunshine for you mwauhaha!" Not appreciated, Seattle! I was enjoying basking in the 45º sunshine, but I knew this was coming all along. We've got 5 solid days of rain predicted for us and I've got my rain-boots and umbrella at the ready. Bring it, Seattle!

feast your eyes on Day 30
One of the first things the sis and I did after first getting to Seattle was try to find a place that would become "our sushi spot". With a little help from yelp (rhymes!), we found our sushi place and it is seriously all kinds of amazing. We eat there alllllll the time, and it is always incredible. We had lunch there today and as always, it was perfect and delicious. And yes, I'm totally that person that takes pictures of food. Don't be jealous of my coolness!
ps. if anyone in Seattle is interested, this is the sushi place. highly recommend!

Day 26 is lost no more
I got a bit lost on my way into the city this evening. Google maps was all "go this way" and I was all "okay, fine", but you know what - google maps lied. rude! Unless they really wanted me to walk directly across a 6 lane highway, which I didn't really feel like doing. And this is where I have to give some love to nyc for taking my busted up navigation skills and making them top freaking notch. I was lost for about 35 seconds, then I saw a few street names, oriented myself, observed the gridded street situation and was on my way (in the right direction). It was a proud moment. Only took 5 months for me to figure out how to get around Seattle!

Day 24 finds the magic
In a startling turn of events, today I left my apartment.
i'll pause to let you recover from the shock.
One of my dearest Hawaii loves was in Seattle for a blink and had the morning free. So now you're looking at this picture and saying "oh yes, I know what they did. They went to the iconic and beautiful space needle." And to that I say, false. We brushed right on by that giant needle in the sky and made our way to a beautiful, magical, holy place. Also known as the Harry Potter exhibit. People. If we're gonna be friends for the rest of the year you should know that my love for all things HP knows no bounds and this will not be the last time it comes up. Moving on. The exhibit was magical, but did not allow pictures. This made it slightly less magical. Slightly. So I'll leave you with this picture instead. :)

a dark and stormy Day 13
This is becoming my favorite cityscape shot of Seattle. I took a similar picture once before on a less dark and creepy evening and it still rocked my socks. It's like 1/32 the size of New York and I absolutely love it that way.
That being said, I'm happy to not have to see it for a few days while enjoying my nice long weekend in Hawaii. Goodbye dark and stormy, hello 80º and sunny! Let's do this!

the rain keeps falling on Day 12
Oh seattle weather, what winter trickery is this?? You were all "look you guys! I'm gonna make it snow! Oh wait, jk! JK! Now it's rain!! psych your mind!!"
It snowed a fantastic two inches here last night. Buses went on snow routes, schools had delayed openings, people were hoarding dry goods and batteries, others gave up driving altogether and began just leaving their cars on the side of the roads. Shit was getting real. But then everyone stopped to look up from their hysteria and realized the snow had now turned into rain. So I guess that winter joke was on us... well played, Seattle. Well played.

day 10 is an artist
It's back to a life of freelance/unemployment for me this week now that my contract is up at my last job. I'm neither complaining nor worried. Today I got to stay in my pajamas, cook a serious breakfast, have an impromptu dance session in the living room, do yoga and power through my to-do list. Did I mention all this happened while rocking my pretty sexy polka dot fleece pajamas? Oh yes. I even rocked those pajamas to the post-office to pick up some gifts from my mom (by gifts, I mean things we could buy here but she insists on mailing to us... towels, rice, toothpaste...). I snapped this in the post office parking lot. Feels very artsy. Kinda like me. If artsy means living in polka dot pajamas, that is. :)

Day 8 likes an underdog
You. guys. Where do I even begin?? Today was my first NFL game and I am hooked. Hooked. My ears are still ringing, my voice is gone, I can still taste the ridiculously delicious (and overpriced) sausage sandwich we had at the stadium that we happily washed down with a few cold beers. And I can still see the game happening in front of me when I close my eyes. It was incredible. Not to mention, Seahawks WON!!! They came into the playoffs a losing team (7-9) and were expected to lose this wildcard game to the Saints tremendously. But lose they did not. It was a spectacular game and with each score the tiny glimmer of hope every fan had allowed themselves at the beginning of the game, that tiny itty bitty "what if?" exploded into pure joy and the possibility of a win. A WIN! Against last years superbowl champs!! Amazing!! Even if you know nothing about football - the experience of live sports is one of a kind and not to be missed. This is certainly not my last football game... I'm looking forward to many more beers, hotdogs and screaming fans in the future! Go Seahawks!!
