Day 307 eats. a lot.

I believe my next blog is going to be called "Food I eat", because I seem to (not so) secretly love taking pictures of my food. I had a thai craving the other day, and the only cure was... well... Thai. Specifically crab rangoons which are terribly, terribly bad for you but taste like an explosion of heaven in your mouth. So naturally I ordered some. And they did not disappoint.

Day 306 shouldn't have done that....

You want to eat this, right? I know you do. But you can't. I'm sorry. Cause I ate all of it. Yup, an entire medium pizza. Okay now, I split it into a lunch and then a dinner situation. That's respectable right? I'm gonna go with yes... yes, it is. In other related news - my new gym opens in February. But if I'm gonna keep eating pizzas like this I may just have to force it to open sooner.

Day 286 does it family style

BAM. This happened. Thursday was part 2 of what we're now calling "family dinner". It's the greatest. I'm a fan. It means I get to eat food with my friends, and pretty much nothing makes me happier than that. I made a chili. It changed lives. VA made these crazy awesome cookie bowls. (See mine sans chocolate chips in the back. Awww yeah.) They baked a little, well.... crazy. But were seriously delicious so it didn't matter. The food and the company was just top notch. Family dinners ftw.

Day 265 tastes the avenue

I don't think I've ever eaten so much food in my entire life. My wonderful friend Sarah invited me on a food tour. We went to seven different restaurants on E. Passyunk in South Philly. So much food, so much alcohol, so much fun. This right here was my absolute favorite dish of the night - gnocchi with truffle cream sauce. The late post is totally attributed to the overeating. I woke up the next morning with a food hangover, but it was worth it!

Day 238 devoured this.

It was a long work day and I needed some food and booze in my belly asap. Roomie to the rescue! We grabbed us some grub, some drinks and all in all had a nice night out in neighborhood. Just my kind of night.

Day 231 is satisfied.

I've had the strongest, most intense craving for tacos this past week. Cravings like I just ate a full meal and am so stuffed I can barely walk but I'm literally dreaming of eating a taco. Bizarre how my stomach/brain work sometime. Today I was finally able to do something about it. Turns out there's a pretty stellar Mexican joint just about 4 blocks away from me. So I rolled up there with the biggest smile on my face and ordered me some tacos. And then I experienced bliss. (Friends visiting in a few weeks - are you ready for some tacos?? We'll be going there at least once!)

I ate Day 159

There may or may not have been a brownie on this plate. And by "may or may not" I mean definitely was.  And I ate it. Then later when I went to put the dish in the sink... I ate another one. Whoa - this blog just turned into confessions of a food junky. You guys want some brownies? There's plenty and I'd love for someone to eat them before I eat them all. Kthanks.

Day 112 knows how to unwind

I had a lovely date night with my darling Nina this evening. We just spent 5 days traveling together and we still haven't had enough of each other yet! Ha! Lots of chatting, some eating, lots of wine, one of my favorite movies, and a very classy dessert of Reese's to go along with that wine. Today I learned that red wine and reese's are a delicious pair. I highly recommend you give it a shot when you can. It was some serious yum time.

Day 100 makes breakfast

I love breakfast. I could eat breakfast food for every meal. This morning, however, I was feeling totally uninspired by my old standbys. Yogurt? No. Cereal? Boring. Eggs? Maybe. Toad-in-a-hole? Absolutely! I can't remember the last time I made one. Now, the name can be disputed. I've also heard egg-in-the-basket and bird's nest to name a few. As long as you have bread, butter, an egg, and it's delicious that's all that matters.

Day 63, phở-sure

Hi, my name is Aislinn and I am addicted to phở. (Apparently pronounced "fa?"... with the question mark and everything. Don't ask.) I had the magic that is phở for dinner again this evening. That makes 3 times this week and I'm pretty sure the sis and I are going to have it again for lunch tomorrow. Who needs variety in their meals when you get just eat phở day and night, is what I say. This is the sign outside the new phở spot we found last week. None of these are words that I recognize, except of course, for my second addiction, coffee. If only phở and coffee went together. Hmm... maybe I need to give that a try.

ps. I had to do a lot of googling to get those special "phở" characters to show up. I wanted it to be fancy for you guys. :)

pps. number of times I used the phở in this post? 7. Amazeballs.

Day 58 knows the muffin man

I officially blog about food more often than life. Perhaps that's the true secret reason for this blog being called the "slice" of 365. Aren't you so pumped you get to see so much of what I'm eating??! Haha just kidding, I'll make a conscious effort to take fewer pictures of food this week :).

But before that - Serena made these killer muffins today. She called me over to look at how beautifully they came out, and they really are beautiful. Blueberry muffins for the win!

Day 13 Loves the Diner

I love a good diner. Even a crappy diner is better than some soggy cheeseburger or the McRib. This is the Ewing Diner, where I went to lunch today with my mom. They give you an insane amount of food. Like to the point where I'd love to sneak in a scale someday to prove their beef stir fry does indeed weigh 28 lbs. There is something magical about a ten page menu serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner at all hours of the day. Where else can you get an omelette, lobster tails, or moussaka 24 hrs. a day, besides your dreams?

lunch box lovin' on Day 7

Benefits of working at a kitchen company: food everywhere.  For serious. Especially the last few days as the team was preparing to launch the massive site redesign, food of all kinds was allllll up in there. Today's special treat: lunch boxes! But so much classier than the ones I remember as a kid. And of course I was ooohing and aahhing over the packaging for a few minutes before diving into the food. Sandwich, cookie, apple, chips... felt just like being a kid again!

A cup of Day 4 Noodles

I'm unashamed in my love for cup noodles. Delicious noodle meal made in only 3 minutes (!) in a tasty broth that could sorta maybe kinda taste like chicken (if chicken tasted like sodium and yellow dye). Plus (!) - and this is a major selling point - vegetables. At least 3 peas, 4 carrots and if you're lucky some not-quite-cooked corn. WIN. Sign me up, baby!

ps. this was my lunch today. laziness + college loans = instant lunch! yummmm
