Day 167 had a dessert experience

This right here is one of the most delicious things I've ever eaten. It's a Cannoli Cupcake from Felix's Caketeria in Newtown. I went during my lunch break with my co-workers. Somehow I had enough self-control to wait until I got back to the office to devour my cupcake. The cake tasted like a sugar cookie - I don't know how this is even possible. The frosting was a rich yet light chocolate buttercream. It was topped with cannoli crust, chocolate chips, and chocolate drizzle. In case this doesn't sound amazing enough, there was a surprise filling. Any guesses? Hint: it's the part of the cannoli I haven't mentioned yet. Yep. It was filled with a perfect amount of cannoli cream. I'm still trying to process the amazing dessert experience I had. Afterwards I kind of felt like I was going to die, but it was totally worth it. I want to take everyone I know to Felix's to sample a treat for themselves.

Day 130 wants a cupcake!

During lunch today we stopped at this amazing little bakery in Newtown called Felix's Caketeria. You can't go wrong with someone named Felix, I've found :) As soon as you walk in the store you're hit by the delicious smell of fresh baked goods. I wanted one of everything, especially the cupcakes. They have your standards like red velvet and carrot cake. There are also some more adventurous flavors like cookie dough and "elvis." Since I would be scarfing down dessert at my desk I ended up getting a decadent peanut butter brownie, which took me the rest of the day to eat. Knowing this place exists just offers one more reason why I need to join a gym. In the meantime, I'll enjoy the cherry sundae cupcake!

Day 72 goes to brunch

This morning I had brunch with my friend at Pat's in Newtown. For those unfamiliar, Newtown is where the classic film Signs was filmed. Jealous? Anyway, Pat's is always jamming, especially on weekends. It's totally worth the wait. Their homemade strawberry jam is incredible. Unfortunately, they were already sold out! Our waitress was able to track down some mixed berry jam, since we weren't fans of the ultra sweet peach jam everyone else was eating. Always a lovely way to spend a Sunday morning!
