Day 235 loves a good (old) book

The Bucks County Library, Yardley branch, had a book sale today. I love old things, especially old books. I can't say no to cheap old classics. I'm slightly embarassed to say I've never read Franny and Zooey or 1984. So, they're now added to my ever-growing list. Let's be honest, I'm probably not going to read that Hardy Boys book - but it's going to look good on my book shelf.

Day 166 loves summer reading

All that traveling this past week left me with lots of time for reading. Something I used to only really do on subways and long greyhound rides. I loved having an excuse to get back into some books. So much so that I finished 3 books in 3 days. Winning! I truly recommend each of these. All are extraordinary in their own ways. Harry Potter needs no review I believe - just look at how well loved my copy is. The Help has been one I've been meaning to pick up for months and just finally got around to it. Worth it. I devoured this one in just about 6 hours. I may have to read it again cause I loved it that much. And Neverwhere by Gaiman absolutely blew me away from beginning to end. I hope you all pick up at least one of these at some point this summer!

Day 129 feels mischievous

Thank you Google! I was pleasantly surprised this morning to see Google's home page celebrating the 76th birthday of Roger Hargreaves, author of the Little Miss and Mister books. Bedtime stories were a huge part of my childhood, particularly this series. I was obsessed. Some of my favorites: Little Miss Shy, Little Miss Chatterbox, Mr. Messy and of course, Mr. Mischief. I have vivid memories of this book. My favorite part? You guessed it, it involves food. He mischievously fashions a cake out of mud, cotton, and toothpaste to give to the unsuspecting Mr. Greedy. What a trickster! I will never part with these books, even if it means they just end up in a box with old cassette tapes and other items that will be outdated by the time I have kids.

Day 100 has some reading to do!

Remember when I said I needed to get away from the world of blogs and bad writing and start reading some real books again? Challenge accepted, friends. I hit up the library and got a ton of books. Fact: I was an über reading nerd when I was a kid. Preferred libraries to malls and could often be found still up at 4am devouring whatever I new book I was in love with that day. Oh yes, I was that kid. And now I'm getting back to my roots and couldn't be happier!

ps. WHATUP, 100 days of blogging!! Feels awesome!
