Day 289 turns into a pumpkin

My good friend Sarah had a surprise birthday party for her mom today - it was a wonderful celebration! She did a great job party planning. Most importantly, her mom was surprised. Also, Sarah baked these pumpkin cakes! I can't even begin to think how to bake something so adorable. She's such a crafty lady!

Day 217 forgot

On Day 217 I was out of the house from 8:15 a.m until 2 a.m. and I forgot my camera. Oops. So, technically this photo is from Day 218. Comfort Food is a new food store in my neighborhood, focusing on using the best local ingredients. My mom and I grabbed lunch there and brought home this amazing pound cake. The label is slightly misleading as there are also blueberries in the cake. Delicious any way you look at it!

Day 162 had a bittersweet birthday

So I've been in Chicago for roughly 10 hours and am in love with this city all over again. One of my besties (and future roomie!) KGrahams is taking me around to some parties in the city and introducing me to new, awesome peeps. We had some amazingly rich chocolate cake from Bittersweet Bakery and while it didn't go so well with those margaritas we had at dinner, it was worth it.YUM. I mean really.. yum. I believe I just found my new fave sweet shop in Chicago.

Day 114 takes the cake

My mom and I went a little overboard baking/decorating this Easter cake. And I could barely wait until after taking this picture to have a slice. And it's going to take a lot of self-control to not devour the entire thing.

Day 9 is 25

Today is my 25th birthday! And we all know what that means – I can legally rent a car and I’m more than half way to 40. Woof. Hey, at least there’s cake!
