Day 151 learned something today

Nothing wipes me out quite like a nice long plane ride. I'm back in seattle, about to crash into bed but wanted to share this first. This is a pic from my little photo/shopping adventure in Chicago this morning. I think its a brilliant little piece of street wisdom. Graffiti, I love you something fierce.

Day 151 is in the closet

I have had a migraine all day and want nothing more than to go to bed. Then I realized I hadn't taken a picture yet. Yikes! This is a partial view of my closet, as I sit on the floor in my bedroom. For those who know me very well, yes, at least seven of the photographed items have never been worn. I figured this shot would be a little more interesting than my blank wall. And less embarrassing than the pile of laundry on the floor.

Day 150 loves this day

It was a HOT one in Chicago today! Our little group walked at least 5 miles around the city today. We hit the zoo, had some time to dip our toes in the lake then grabbed some lunch before we napped our exhaustion away. Much fun was had and I was more than happy about the great weather we had.

Day 150 likes picnics

I just got back from a Memorial Day picnic. Friends, games, good food (entirely too much of it), and drinks -- what more could a girl want? Sometimes at these types of events I'm too in the moment to remember to take pictures. This was taken towards the end of the night as things were winding down and the mosquitoes were acting up. The three day weekend went by way too fast and now it's back to reality!

Day 149 was a good day

Things I loved about today: driving with the windows down, improv practice session, pizza, my improv class show, Stone IPA, outdoor seating, random Philly block party complete with wading pool. I even love this blurry driving picture I took right before I merged onto 95. Today was a good day.

Day 149 got some buckets

There's a huge bucket backstory that I simply dont have the energy the share right now, but trust me, it's amazing. Until I'm ready to share, here's a pic of our party rum buckets from today. Oh hey best BBQ ever.

Day 148 took a look around

I've been taking some time to explore the Lakeview neighborhood. The weather has not been playing nice enough for us to do any fun outdoor stuff yet, so I've been working on relaxing and chilling out while enjoying the city. We did some awesome BBQ shopping today and now I'm super pumped for our grilling action tmw!

Day 148 hits the hay

I haven't gotten adequate sleep in days. The only thing I can think about right now is resting on these pillows and passing out. Before I fall asleep mid-sentence, good night blogosphere!

Day 147 found some tasty treats

We're wrapping up night 2 here in chicago with some tasty cupcakes and Disney karaoke jam sessions. It's all kinds of perfect ESPECIALLY since I've been reunited with my long lost best buddy Amanda C.! We've had our fair share of giggle break downs and lots of catching up. Heaven! Catch all you guys tomorrow.

Day 147's name in lights

First of all, it's a three-day weekend!! Pardon the excitement, but that needed to be said. Anyway, tonight we went to Princeton. It was jamming, partly because of the lovely weather and partly because of some sort of alumni event at the University. While wandering around the campus we stumbled upon several fenced in and highly guarded areas, that we weren't able to sneak into. There were tents with food and a band performing. They also had these fancy lights with graduation years in front of said fenced in areas. Campus security was not joking around! Though I did see a small child attempting to operate a golf cart. He was driving in reverse. Class of 2028.

Day 146 hits the windy city

I'm in Chicago this weekend to hang, see some friends and enjoy this beautiful city. The weather today and tomorrow is kind of horrible but for the rest of the long weekend it looks all kinds of amazing. Woohoo! Stay tuned for Chicago blogs for the next few days. :)

Day 146 won't whine

Yes, that is indeed a crate of assorted wine and champagne in my trunk. We had a ton of it left over from my work event, which was split between several of my co-workers. This combines two four letter words I love: wine and free. Now, I won't be so bold as to pretend to know very much about wine. But I do know one thing: this is the good stuff. I also know that a crate of fifteen bottles of wine is super heavy! I was slightly terrified of the champagne popping in my hot car while I sat parked, waiting for a freight train to pass by. Thankfully it didn't. Otherwise I would've looked really silly sitting in my driveway, head buried in my trunk with a straw.

Day 145 doesn't want this rain

Due to some transit issues in Seattle today, I spent 30 minutes sitting in a Rite Aid parking lot waiting to pick up the sis after work. Not that I minded. I had a book and angry birds to keep me company. But I did find the sound of the pouring rain to be distracting and kind of creepy. Good thing I'll be taking a break from this rain as of tomorrow. I'm off to Chicago for a few days where it's going to be sunny and between 75º and 80º this weekend. Yes please.

Day 145 is getting ready

I'm currently doing some crazy multitasking: eating breakfast, putting on makeup, and blogging! Today I'm going to New York for a work event. It's going to be a long day, as after the event/reception I'm going to the Upright Citizen's Bridage Theatre to see a show! My excitement vastly outweighs how tired I'm going to be for the rest of the week. Oh, and this is the little outfit I'm wearing!

A hearty start to Day 144

In my experience, people are either very very against dried fruit in cereal, or all about it. I happen to be all about it. I went through a period of 5 months in New York where this is all I had for breakfast (and sometimes lunch). This specific kind of cereal. Special K with red berries. I have no idea why I became so addicted to it. Then one day I just stopped wanting it for breakfast. What can I say, my body is weird. Well - now I'm back on it. I went through 1 box in 5 days and now half way through box 2 this week. I'm so ashamed. But seriously - soooo tasty!

Day 144 goes for a walk

After being cooped up in the office for most of the day I was itching for some fresh air. After dinner I threw on some shorts and a tshirt, and went for a walk. It was delightful! I'm always mesmerized by the beautiful sky. It's a miracle I haven't been hit by a car while sightseeing.

Day 143 just got an idea...

I've had this idea to get another tattoo for years now. Before I moved to Seattle, I really wanted to get one that would somehow pay homage to my time in new york, but was never able to find an idea that I liked. I still think about it and would seriously like to get another one. Driving to work today I realized this little store on the corner is in fact a tattoo shop. Uh oh. Perhaps it's time to start thinking of ideas again!

Day 143 is just a bowl of cherries

Two fruity days in a row! Sometimes nothing makes me happier than fresh fruit. Cherries make such a wonderful snack. Especially while watching trashy reality TV, like I'm doing right now. The healthy snack balances out the fact that I'm rotting my mind! Win win.

Day 142 walks on by

Today I had a lovely girls day with the sis and my dearest Nina! Pedicures and shopping and a trip downtown. It was a lovely way to spend a Sunday. I sneakily took this pic while we were wandering around downtown. You can call it lack of focus, I call it artistic. :)

Day 142 tastes like summer

I was rather disappointed when I woke up this morning and it wasn't warm and sunny. What happened to the forecast of mid-80s with lots of sun? Screw you, meteorologists! Even though the weather didn't feel like summer at least my snack did. Yum, watermelon!

Day 141, rapture who?

So did we all survive the rapture??! I hope so. I hope you all partied and had yourselves a fanciful rapture celebration even though there was, ya know, no rapture. The sis and I had some spa appointments today and I saw this lovely chandelier in the waiting room. I thought it looked cool if you stood under it looking straight up and wanted to share the view. Quite chic, if I do say so myself.

Day 141 ain't afraid of no rapture

End of the world, rapture, blah blah blah, whatever. The apocalypse be damned, my mom and I spent the whole day shopping. We went to the Jackson outlets in New Jersey. I needed a thing or two for an upcoming work event and my mom wanted to check out some stores too. I am super tired now, but have a few items to add to my closet and a little less in my wallet. These gorgeous clouds led the way to a downpour, which we missed by minutes. I probably shouldn't make fun of the whole rapture thing, since the day isn't over yet. I'm going to enjoy the next few hours before the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man arrives to signal the end of times.

Day 140 packed a lunch

Obviously a big concern of mine at the new job is food. Sometimes I bring a lunch but we end up going out, so my sad sandwich sits all alone in the fridge. Such was the case today. I was starving by 11am and knew my PB&J wouldn't cut it. Some nachos and a delicious salad later, I was full. But I felt kinda bad for my old standby lunch, which I left by the wayside. So tonight I had a dinner fit for a first grader! And it was delicious.

Little treasures on Day 140

Tonights fun took me once again to my darling Nina's apt. She has the cutest little crafty gems all over her place and it makes everything feel so homey and quaint. I saw this little get-up on her window sill. Seriously - so crafty. No clue what she was making or why, but I was diggin it.

Happy Day before the rapture, ya'll!

Day 139 found the sun!

Eeeeek! It was sun, sun, sunny today! And tomorrow there is not only more sun but it's gonna be warm. WARM! It hasn't been over 65º here since October. We're so due for a 70º day and I can't wait. I'm waiting until tomorrow to debut my skirt. Woohoo!! (ps. yes I'm totally drunk on Vitamin D. Feels awesome!)

Day 139 pays to park

Blog posting is the only thing keeping me from going to bed. Much the same way that this parking garage was the only thing keeping me from getting home from Philly tonight. Actually, my fate was in the hands of the attendant. I gave him a good tip last week and now we are developing a nice rapport. Good ol' reliable Sansom St. garage!

Day 138 forgot something

We live directly next to a high school out here in the lovely Beacon Hill. Apart from crazy rush hour moments between 730am-8am and 2pm-3pm, it's actually not that big a deal. I thought it would be noisy and I'd be that person yelling "Keep it down, ya crazy kids!!", but this hasn't been the case. Phew! I stumbled upon this little bit of trash outside said HS today. Memories of grade school came flooding back. I didn't know they still served milk in these tiny little milk cartons! We used to have a competition at lunchtime to see who could be the fastest at drinking all their milk, then neatly folding up the carton into as flat a piece as possible. I won once. I was king of the cafeteria that day. Agh, youth.

Day 138 is a fish tree

My mom keeps a little fake pine tree in the sunroom that she decorates for the holidays. No, not just Christmas. By holidays I mean having a Valentine's Day tree, Easter tree, Halloween tree, etc. Today she put several fish ornaments on the tree. This isn't really celebrating a holiday per se, but anything that looks ready for summer is okay by me!

Day 137 found this

And to continue the series of "Stuff I See While Picking Up My Sister At the Bus Stop" - An abandoned Falafel truck. Or is it?? Perhaps it's just parked for the night. No more Falafels after 5pm for the good folks of Seattle. Or maybe the cloudy-turned-sunny day was reason enough for the Falafel crew to take a half day and spend their free time galavanting around in the sun leaving the hungry masses yearning for Falafel with nothing for the day. Who knows. The point is.... damn, where's this bus??

Day 137 is ridiculously motivated

Remember when my friend Emily visited a while back? Well she's a gem and she made me this fun mix to play when I need motivation. And I'm kind of obsessed with playing it in the car. It's got a little bit of everything, from motown to David Byrne, with some Huey Lewis and the News thrown in for chuckles. It was the perfect thing for my rainy drive home from work today!

Day 136 went shopping

It was time for a wardrobe update from winter/spring to spring/summer. (Just to make sure, I'm not the only one who does this, right??). One of my favorite purchases is a cute spring skirt that I can't wait to wear. Here's a little zoomed in snapshot of it. It's so... Spring-y! I just need one sunny day, Seattle - just one. It's definitely coming with me to Chicago next week though, and I'll just have to cross my fingers for a good weather day out there - aka, an excuse to rock this skirt. But seriously - cutest skirt ever. Thanks, Forever 21!

Day 136 buys local

After dinner tonight we went to Jo Jos, a local ice cream shop, for dessert. I'm such a sucker for mom-and-pop shops, especially those that boast products that are homemade. Basically I like supporting local small businesses. So if that means eating lots and lots of ice cream, I guess I'm the right woman for the job.

Day 135 has this to say...

I may or may not have taken this picture in a public restroom. I grossed myself out just admitting that. But you know the story, I saw this and I just had to take a picture. You can't just let pics like this slip away because of a some questionable hygiene situations. Also up until this point in my relaxing Sunday, I had yet to find anything picture-worthy so I jumped at this. My phone has since been thoroughly sanitized and clorox'd. Excuse me, now I'm off to Make Something Awesome.

Day 135 looks weird

I went to light a candle this afternoon and this is what I found when I opened the box of matches. How weird looking! I've never seen conjoined matches before. I feel kinda bad breaking them apart. Maybe I should leave them intact when I strike the box. It would probably cause some sort of double match fireball explosion. Probably not.

A delicious start to Day 134

I call this picture 'Cantaloupe Guts". Yumm! We've been on a cantaloupe kick here for the past few weeks. After strawberries and bananas, this is my favorite fruit. The other two are higher because they can be used most effectively in smoothies. Cantaloupe in a smoothie? Not so much. Or at least I haven't found a recipe for one that doesn't make me feel a little grossed out. So for now I'll stick to enjoying it as an anytime-snack.

Day 134 'n plenty

I used to think Good 'n Plentys were gross. The licorice flavor was not appealing to me. Also on an episode of The Simpsons Homer ate his dog's heart medication because they came in "Good 'n Plenty colors." So I always think of that too. But taste changes and now I really like them. I wish this would've been the case when I was younger and traded Halloween candy.

Day 133 did it again...

Sorry friends. This late post is 100% my fault. Two days in a row is inexcusable! I'm considering this a lesson to myself to blog before going out to celebrate the weekend. But anyway, yesterday's sunshine reminded me how much I love these flowers in my front yard.

Day 133 is a serious snacker

I take my snacks very, very seriously. Last month as dozens (literally, dozens!) of wedding weekend emails were flying back and forth amongst my friends, my very first thought and contribution to the planning was "WHAT ABOUT THE SNACKS?!?!" Serious stuff. This was todays work snack. Looks so simple and yet, it's so perfectly delicious. New dream job idea - Spokesman of Snacks. Doesn't matter what snack, I shall PR the crap out of it because it's a cause that I believe in. Word.

Day 132 is back!

This is what I was seeing over and over (and over) again yesterday whenever I tried to post. Fail! Sorry for the late post, reader friends!

And now back to our regularly scheduled programming. :)

This was Seattle.... yesterday? This late post is brought to you courtesy of Blogger.com being down for just about 24 hours yesterday. How fun! It was sunny skies and fun little fluffy clouds. Still climbing out of the mid 50ºs here, but hey! At least there was sunshine. I'll take it!

Day 132 had technical difficulties

Yesterday was crazy busy for me. As soon as I got home from work, I scarfed down dinner then ran to Philly for my improv class and grabbed a beer with some folks afterwards. By the time I took this photo on the drive home I was beat. The last thing I felt like doing when I got home super late was blog. Then blogger was down for maintenance! Score! So I'm a day late. Stay tuned for Day 133's real post...

Day 131 goes quack, quack

It was an umbrella day in Seattle. These days are rarer than you might think. Most "rainy" days you don't need an umbrella at all because you're not actually getting wet - the rain is just not falling hard enough for that. Today was another story. As I was commenting to miss KC here about how downtown Seattle seems to be completely unaware of the unspoken umbrella etiquette rules (these are real. ask any new yorker), I noticed her fancy little umbrella. Oh hey, cutest thing ever. I hate umbrellas, but I would totally carry this one around.

Day 131 gotta hava Wawa

I hit a midday slump today like you would not believe. Luckily this Wawa coffee revived me for just enough time to get me to 5pm. Happy humpday everyone!

Day 130 hates this thing

I don't really like eating whole apples at work out of fear that I'll have food in my teeth when someone talks to me post-apple devouring. This is a real office fear. So instead I slice them. Most days I use this fancy apple slicer thingy. But 8 out of 10 times this thing gets stuck halfway through the freaking apple. I'm not sure if the blades are dull or perhaps that my arm strength is that of a toddler, but whatever it is - it is frustrating and so not what I want to deal with at 9am. Can someone invent one of these that, ya know... work? Pretty please? Thanks. :)

Day 130 wants a cupcake!

During lunch today we stopped at this amazing little bakery in Newtown called Felix's Caketeria. You can't go wrong with someone named Felix, I've found :) As soon as you walk in the store you're hit by the delicious smell of fresh baked goods. I wanted one of everything, especially the cupcakes. They have your standards like red velvet and carrot cake. There are also some more adventurous flavors like cookie dough and "elvis." Since I would be scarfing down dessert at my desk I ended up getting a decadent peanut butter brownie, which took me the rest of the day to eat. Knowing this place exists just offers one more reason why I need to join a gym. In the meantime, I'll enjoy the cherry sundae cupcake!

Day 129, what the....

Okay. People. I promise I wasn't trying to be a creeper, but when I saw this on the car parked next to me I was reaching for my phone to take a picture before I even knew what was happening. Why? Why. Why?? Note to self: when you're a parent, never let your kids put creepy cat stickers on your car window..... Never. Also, for all you Parks & Rec fans out there, Ron Swanson anyone?? Mmmhmmm. That's what I'm saying. *shivers* man, this thing is creepy.

Day 129 feels mischievous

Thank you Google! I was pleasantly surprised this morning to see Google's home page celebrating the 76th birthday of Roger Hargreaves, author of the Little Miss and Mister books. Bedtime stories were a huge part of my childhood, particularly this series. I was obsessed. Some of my favorites: Little Miss Shy, Little Miss Chatterbox, Mr. Messy and of course, Mr. Mischief. I have vivid memories of this book. My favorite part? You guessed it, it involves food. He mischievously fashions a cake out of mud, cotton, and toothpaste to give to the unsuspecting Mr. Greedy. What a trickster! I will never part with these books, even if it means they just end up in a box with old cassette tapes and other items that will be outdated by the time I have kids.

Day 128 rocked

Remember that little fiesta I was going to last night? Well I attended and I fiesta'd, and all was well in the world. Here's a pic of the oh so awesome sound system setup we had going on at the party. I took this after midnight, so it can still count as a photo for today, right? I pretty much lounged about all of today, enjoying Sunday and all its lazy goodness so... this felt like the most interesting picture to share. I hope that you all enjoyed your Sunday, wherever you are!

ps. My cupcakes? A hit. This proves my theory that no one can resist the power of cupcakes.

pps. That website I launched yesterday? Well.... you can see here it if you want. :)

Day 128 feels lazy

You probably can't tell, but this is a shirt. I love this shirt. It's super comfy, breezy, and feels like summer. Perfect for a lazy Sunday afternoon.

(Sidenote: Happy Mother's Day to my amazing mom and any other moms reading this!)

Day 127 likes weird stuff

This afternoon several local churches, libraries etc. were having flea markets. I, of course, went to all of them. I love finding one-of-a-kind things. Like this weird little pin. It's clearly handmade and sporting a rhinoceros. A rhinoceros. I can't imagine a situation where I'll wear it, but I had to have it.
